Rotary Club Turn Over Goods to Governor
New PPBC Board of Directors
 


 

 ROTARY CLUB OF POHNPEI TURN OVER TO GOVERNOR EHSA SOME GOODS- PEILAPALAP (POHNPEI STATE PUBLIC AFFAIRS – JANUARY 12, 2011)

(Office of the Governor: Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM) On January 11, 2011, Mr. John Shroer, the Executive Director of MAHI International acting on behalf of all members of Pohnpei Rotary Club turn over to Governor John Ehsa First Aids Kit boxes for all elementary schools.

“Rotary Club is here for 20 years now and we are very happy and excited about addressing certain needs of the good people of Pohnpei,” according to Mr. Shroer. He went on to say that what we are doing today is the Rotary Club’s response to a request from the Director of Education for each school to have one First Aids Kit. These boxes were donated by the Rotary Club of Bakersfield, California. “Our Club is working hard to uphold the Rotary Club’s theme of this year- bridging continents in building communities,” said Shroer. Members of the Rotary Club of Pohnpei want to disseminate the Kits to schools for an opportunity to meet with the students and teachers.

After receiving the First Aids Kits, Governor Ehsa thanked God Almighty who makes all good things happen. “We thank Rotary Club and its good members for helping us improve the good health and education of our children who will be our future leaders,” Governor Ehsa said. Governor Ehsa went on to say, “We are very thankful for your humanitarian assistance and kind hearts because the needs for many good things are there, but our responses and resources are not there, and for this particular need, you helped us fill in our response. Governor also thanked Rotary Club’s donation of drinking water to the outer islands which experiencing shortage of clean drinking sources. “We will not stop but continue to convey our many thanks to people like you and your kind organization and its sisters around the world,” said Governor.

 Director of Education and his staffs were present. Two Certificates of Appreciations were prepared and will be presented during luncheon that will be coordinated by the Public Affairs Officer and the Protocol Officer. One will be presented to Rotary Club of Pohnpei and one for the MAHI International.

GOVERNOR EHSA SWORN-IN NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR POHNPEI PUBLIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION-PEILAPALAP(POHNPEI STATE INFORMATION SERVICES-JANUARY 11, 2011)

(Office of the Governor: Kolonia, Pohnpei, FM) Governor Ehsa, on January 12, 2011, sworn- in Mrs. Lynn Naruhn and Kester James as new members of the Board of Directors of Pohnpei Public Broadcasting Corporation (PPBC) which for long time operating under directors whose terms are expired by law but could serve until successors come on board. There is now quorum to transact business of the corporation. Presents during the sworn-in are the Speaker of the Pohnpei Legislature, Special Assistant to Governor, Commissioner of PPBC, some cabinet officers, some current board of directors, PPBC staffs and family members of the new directors.

 Governor thanked the nominees for their willingness and good decision to help improve Pohnpei Public Broadcasting Corporation. Yours is a decision to be commended because your ambition to improve PPBC even when you know well that you will receive no salary while serving on the board, said Governor.

 Governor went on to say, Pohnpei Public Broadcasting Corporation or Radio V6AH continue to maintain peace and security of Pohnpei, we cannot disengage ourselves from it. We do not have military and PPBC is the substitute because we can warn the listeners of dangers. Governor thanked Speaker Pelep and his colleagues in the 7TH Pohnpei Legislature for rendering their advice and consent to his nominees.
 

Speaker Pelep who was also gave brief remark, thank Governor and GM of Pohnpei Public Broadcasting Corporation for inviting him to this swear-in ceremony. According to Speaker Pelep, their process of confirmation involved many people which often make approval process too difficult. Regardless of this obstacle, your nominations received advice and consent because of our belief that you are the right persons for the job. Speaker Pelep  went on and advise the nominees to remember that their very purpose is to first serve the well being of the general public and other priorities come second. Honesty and hard working is very important and collaboration of management.
